Kirby McDonald

Founder of McDonald Industries and Peak Oilfield Service Company; founding partner of Sundance Cruises and partner in Pacific Detroil Diesel

Kirby McDonald founded McDonald Industries in 1970. The company was a major distributor of construction and mining machinery in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. In 1979 he founded Peak Oilfield Service Company, as the major contractor providing oilfield support in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska to the oil and service companies supporting North America's largest oilfield. In 1987 he purchased Universal Services and became CEO and principal shareholder. The company provided remote site logistical support services principally to multi national oil and gas, exploration and production companies, mining, and military operations worldwide. By 2000 when the company was sold it had operations in 44 countries on 900 jobsites. In 1984 he was a founding partner in Sundance Cruises, which provided cruise ship operations on the West Coast, Mexico and the Caribbean markets. In 1989 he became a partner in Pacific Detroit Diesel, a supplier of Detroit diesel engines and related products in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska.

McDonald is a graduate of the University of Washington with a degree in International Business and Finance. Kirby is active in a number of civic and related organizations including the Swedish Hospital Board of Trustees, St Thomas Day School and Chief Executive Organization. He is Vice Chairman of Broadstream Communications, a supplier of broadband video services to the telecom industry.
