BIG SPRING , Texas--They're trying to make your schools safer. Big Spring and Coahoma are two of six West Texas school districts that are getting a federal grant.

They will recieve $600,000 from the U.S. Department of Education for a rapid responder program to help pinpoint emergency locations on school campuses. They'll get information, for example, on the quickest way to get to the area, and if there are any hazardous materials present.

Other school districts involved in the project are Midland, Monahans and Pecos.
