Rapid Responder Used for Search of Robbery
Suspect On-Campus

A school district in Washington state accessed Rapid Responder when a robbery suspect was seen on the campus of a high school. The robbery suspect was actually a student at the school and information suggested the student could be armed. As the school resource officer responded, he asked police dispatch to open Rapid Responder and access the building information where the suspect was said to be hiding. Police dispatch had already accessed Rapid Responder and had all the information about the building at their fingertips. The floor plan was already displayed on the dispatcher's screen. The student was located and taken into custody without incident.

This incident highlights not only the fact that the school resource officer thought to access Rapid Responder for this situation but that police dispatch had already accessed the system when the call came in. By providing dispatchers with credentials and access to Rapid Responder, they were able to relay instant information to the responding officer which saved valuable time.
