The Benaroya Company Takes Lead in Private Sector Safety
First Private Company in the Nation to Implement New Technology Improving Communications Line Between Emergency Responders

SEATTLE— November 2004 – The Benaroya Company, a Seattle real estate company, announced today that they have partnered with Prepared Response, Inc. to map more than 1.2 million square feet of office space in downtown Seattle, including the Park Place building and the three towers on the Metropolitan Park Campus. Incorporated in the mapping is additional critical safety information for first responders. Benaroya chose to collaborate with this team in order to ensure the highest level of safety for its tenants and to mitigate property damage should an emergency occur.

Rapid ResponderTM , created by Prepared Response, is a Web-based and stand alone application which gives emergency responders the information they need to act quickly, decisively, and safely during any emergency incident. Seattle’s first responders will now have secure and immediate access to preplanned information for numerous emergency scenarios. Emergency responders, as well as key building personnel, are being trained and given direct access to information such as complete floor plans, site maps, utility control locations, hazardous material locations, tactical and evacuation plans, and contact information.

The Benaroya Company, along with Prepared Response, saw an immediate benefit to greatly improving emergency preparedness and planning in the private sector. By integrating Rapid Responder, emergency personnel are able to view critical site information en route to an emergency. They can also access building safety plans specific to the crisis, create and manage incident plans through a secure internet connection.
