  • Details: Washington is the first state in the nation to implement a statewide critical infrastructure information system for first responders. The system gives police and fire personnel instant access to more than 300 data points about buildings and facilities, including tactical plans, GIS, floor plans, utility shut-offs and other key information. During major disasters such as 9/11 or Hurricane Katrina, the system can be accessed by the Coast Guard, military and other mutual aid responders. Finnell will discuss how the system works, how it was used to save lives during an actual incident, and how the system can be implemented in other states or on a national level.
