New GuideSafe Product Gives Building Owners and Tenants Instant Access to Emergency Information

GuideSafe helps property managers demonstrate due diligence in life safety

SEATTLE, WA -- February 13, 2007 -- A new online system that gives building owners and tenants instant access to procedures for dealing with a wide variety of emergency incidents was introduced today by the leading provider of safety and crisis management systems, Prepared Response, Inc.  The Web-based tenant safety solution, called GuideSafe™, better prepares office workers to deal with emergencies ranging from broken water pipes, fires, and earthquakes to violent intruders and terrorist incidents.  The system is designed to bridge the gap until help arrives.

Crises such as September 11 and Hurricane Katrina led to the development of GuideSafe because they demonstrated a general lack of tenant preparedness and brought to light the inability of occupants to access crucial information during an emergency. With GuideSafe, tenants simply click a red icon on their computer desktop to instantly access easy-to-understand safety procedures specific to their building.  The safety instructions, which can be customized by property managers, provide simple instructions of “what-to-do” during fires, earthquakes, hurricanes, hazmat spills, violent intruders, and other possible crises.

“Preparedness is the key to saving lives and property during emergencies,” said Peter Lucarelli, retired Assistant Fire Chief of the Los Angeles City Fire Department. “It’s paramount that property managers educate tenants about safety procedures, and provide all occupants with a method to quickly access emergency procedures.”

Unfortunately, the reality today is that most tenants are not prepared for emergencies. According to a recent survey by MarketTools, over 50 percent of office occupants nationwide said they did not know where their building’s emergency plan was located, and 54 percent said they had never even looked at their building’s emergency plan!

“Building owners are required to have this emergency information, but they don’t have an easy and cost-effective way of distributing it to their tenants,” said Jim Finnell, president and CEO of Prepared Response, Inc. “GuideSafe gives building owners and property managers a powerful tool to provide emergency procedures to their tenants. In addition, GuideSafe also helps owners and property managers to document compliance by providing them with an audit trail to demonstrate they made aggressive efforts to communicate and distribute tenant safety procedures.”

In addition to providing instant access to emergency procedures, GuideSafe allows property managers to communicate status updates to all tenants during emergencies such as power outages; send notifications to all tenants; add emergency procedures specific to each building; add supplementary documents; view and manage all buildings in one screen display; update information as changes occur; schedule and notify tenants of drills and events; view statistics about how often tenants view various emergency procedures; provide reporting of when procedures were last updated and e-mailed; and provide an audit trail of all drills and notifications.

GuideSafe is a Web 2.0 product, meaning that no software is purchased or downloaded. GuideSafe is accessed via the Web and data can be easily updated at all times by property managers via any Internet browser. In addition, all building data is stored in highly-secure, back-up protected off-site locations. GuideSafe is available for a 30-day, risk-free trial at www.guidesafe.com. The product can be purchased for the low cost of $99.00 per building/per month. In addition, there is a one-time set-up fee of $199 for the first building.
