Updated Emergency Preparedness Software Program Available for Schools, Companies, Public Facilities and Critical Infrastructure

SEATTLE April 20, 2004 - Prepared Response, Inc. today announced nationwide availability of an updated version of Rapid Responder™ designed to give police, fire and other first responders critical access to facilities information required to effectively respond to emergencies. Rapid Responder directly links first responders to facility floor plans, site maps, hazardous material locations, utility control locations, tactical and evacuation plans and key facility stakeholder contact information needed to address emergencies quickly, decisively and safely.

Prepared Response designed Rapid Responder to greatly improve coordinated emergency response and communication. The software program helps to make emergency responders more efficient by including practical information in an easy to use and intuitive Web-based software program, reducing the need for paper-based emergency plans.

Rapid Responder has already been used to map government facilities, commercial office buildings, water treatment facilities, hospitals and schools. It was successfully put to use in a September 2003 school shooting incident at Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane, Washington. Within minutes of receiving the first 911-call, police accessed Rapid Responder system with stored aerial photographs of the school along with detailed floor plans of the campus that included details on entrances and exits, utility shut-off locations and evacuation plans.

“Rapid Responder is all about increasing public safety and emergency preparedness,” said Jim Finnell, CEO of Prepared Response. “This system was developed after analyzing a variety of real emergencies—particularly the Columbine tragedy. Based on findings and in consultation with police, firefighters and other public safety professionals, we developed technology that can be used to significantly help first responders perform more efficiently, effectively and safely.”

About Rapid Responder

Rapid Responder is an interactive emergency response database system. It gives first responders directions to sites, staging areas and buildings, in addition to floor plans, site plans and both indoor and outdoor photos of each facility. It allows first responders to adequately prepare through pre-planning, actual response and recovery, providing the means to effect the highest level of organization and dissemination of all incident plans, site information and communication. For example, a site commander and emergency communications managers can view critical site information en route to an emergency, access building safety plans specific to the crisis, create and manage an incident plan, and communicate in real-time with other crews through a secure internet connection.
